Unemployment benefit calculator 2026
Enter your salary, insurance record and the reason your contract ended to see what benefit you are entitled to from the NSSI. Data current for 2026 under the Social Insurance Budget Act.
How does the calculation work?
The daily unemployment benefit equals 60% of your average daily gross pay for the last 24 calendar months before your insurance ended. The average daily pay is calculated by dividing the monthly salary by the number of working days in the month (21 on average).
The monthly benefit is the daily amount multiplied by the number of working days in that month. The benefit cannot be lower than the minimum (BGN 18.00/day) or higher than the maximum (BGN 107.10/day) daily amount set in the 2026 Social Insurance Budget Act.
For how many months is the benefit paid?
The duration depends on the insurance record accrued for unemployment. If the contract ends of your own accord, by mutual consent, or through disciplinary dismissal, the period is limited to 4 months at the minimum amount, regardless of your record.
| Insurance record | Payment period |
|---|---|
| up to 3 years | 4 months |
| from 3 to 7 years | 6 months |
| from 7 to 11 years | 8 months |
| from 11 to 15 years | 10 months |
| over 15 years | 12 months |
