Length of service calculator 2026

Work out your length of service for a set period, or add up service from several employers. The calculator follows the rules of the Labour Code and the Ordinance on Employment Records and Length of Service.

How is length of service calculated?

Length of service is calculated in days, months and years (Labour Code, Art. 355(1)). A day counts towards length of service if the employee worked at least half of the normal daily working time (Ordinance on Employment Records and Length of Service, Art. 9(2)).

For full-time work (8 hours), the minimum for a day to count towards service is 4 hours. Working less than 4 hours a day, the period does not count towards length of service.

When adding up service from different employers, all the days are added together and normalised: 30 days = 1 month, 12 months = 1 year. This convention is used when making entries in the employment record book.
