The electronic record replaced the paper one on 1 June 2025. How to check yours in the NRA portal, what it contains and what to do if there is a mistake.

The paper employment record (трудова книжка) is history. Since 1 June 2025 everything has been online at the National Revenue Agency (НАП). If you are an employee and you are wondering how to check your length of service, what the new electronic record contains and what to do if there is a mistake, this article is for you.

❓What is the electronic employment record and how do I check it?

✅The electronic employment record is the Single Electronic Employment Record (Единен електронен трудов запис, ЕЕТЗ) in the NRA system. You can access it free of charge at portal.nra.bg with a PIK or a QES. It has been in force since 1 June 2025 and replaces the paper employment record for new employment contracts.

What is the Single Electronic Employment Record (ЕЕТЗ)?

The ЕЕТЗ is the digital file of your whole employment history. Unlike the paper employment record, which you kept yourself, the electronic one is maintained centrally by the NRA. Your employer enters the data directly into the system, and you see it in real time.

What your electronic employment record contains

Visible to you 24/7 in the NRA portal

Name and personal identification number (ЕГН)

Employer details (company ID number ЕИК, name)

Date of signing and type of employment contract

Position, workplace and working hours

Basic salary

Paid leave and sick leave taken

Date and grounds for termination

Social security service record (осигурителен стаж)

Garnishments imposed (if any)

Important: a new employer sees only your periods of employment and your positions, but cannot see your salary at previous employers. It stays confidential.

What happens to the paper employment record?

If you have service from before 1 June 2025, the paper employment record still matters. Do not throw it away!

Keep your paper employment record!

The paper record is the only proof of service before 1 June 2025. You need it for retirement if you have service from before that date.

By 1 June 2026 the employer must finalise and return the paper record after entering everything up to 1 June 2025 in the electronic system.
