NSSI e-portal in Bulgaria: how to log in and what it does
Since 1 January 2026 all NSSI reports go through one portal. How to log in with a PIK or QES, what you can do there and which mistakes to avoid.
From 1 January 2026 all reports and services of the National Social Security Institute (НОИ, the NSSI) go through one place: the Unified Portal for Electronic Services (ЕПЕУ). The old separate links no longer work. In this guide we show exactly what ЕПЕУ is, how to log in and what you can do in it.
❓What is the NSSI’s Unified Portal for Electronic Services (ЕПЕУ)?

What you can do in ЕПЕУ
ЕПЕУ brings together all the online reports and applications that were previously scattered across different subdomains and forms. Access to the whole catalogue is from one screen after login.
Services in ЕПЕУ
What is available after logging in with a PIK or QES
Report on the amount of the granted pension and orders
Report on paid and upcoming sick leave
Report on maternity and unemployment benefits
Electronic insurance file (ЕОД)
Estimated pension calculator
Submitting applications from the service catalogue
The full catalogue is at eportal.nssi.bg/katalog-na-uslugite. It also includes the electronic submission of certificates No. 9, No. 10 and No. 11 by employers.
Social Insurance Code (КСО)
Art. 33
Official Bulgarian text
„Националният осигурителен институт е публична институция, която управлява държавното обществено осигуряване и предоставя електронни административни услуги на осигурените лица.“
How to log in to ЕПЕУ: three ways to authenticate
To access your personal reports you must prove your identity. The portal supports three methods. Choose one depending on whether you already have a PIK and how often you will use the service.
Choose a way to log in
Choose ONE of the options
NSSI PIK
Free, the easiest to obtain, only for NSSI services
NRA PIK
If you already have one from the tax portal, it also works for ЕПЕУ
QES (qualified electronic signature)
Paid, but universal: valid for all state portals
| Method | Price | Time to obtain | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|---|
| NSSI PIK | Free | Immediately at an NSSI office | Only the NSSI’s ЕПЕУ |
| NRA PIK | Free | Immediately at an NRA office | The NSSI’s ЕПЕУ and the NRA portal |
| QES | About BGN 40-60 a year | 1-3 working days | All state portals |
A QES is issued by licensed providers such as B-Trust, Evrotrust, StampIT and Infonotary. For a one-off report a PIK is the cheaper solution.

Steps for the first login with an NSSI PIK
If you have neither a PIK nor a QES, the fastest is to get an NSSI PIK. The whole procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes at the nearest NSSI office.
First access to ЕПЕУ with an NSSI PIK
Submit an application for a PIK
10-15 minutesAt an NSSI office with an ID card, or online with a QES through ЕПЕУ.
Receive the PIK in hand
The same dayIt is handed over in person against a signature at the office. The PIK consists of 10 characters.
Choose login with an NSSI PIK from the portal’s home screen.
Enter your details
In the Identifier (Идентификатор) field enter your ЕГН (personal identification number) or ЛНЧ (personal number of a foreigner), not an email. Then the PIK.
Enter a contact email
1 minuteOnce, at the first login. It is used for notifications and recovery.
Access to the Electronic insurance file
You see your record, contributions, and the reports for pension and sick leave.
The identifier is the ЕГН, not an email
Common problems and mistakes
ЕПЕУ works reliably, but there are a few typical stumbling blocks on first use. Read about them before you call the contact centre.
An NSSI PIK does not work in the NRA portal
The PIK can expire
The old links to the separate services do not work
If the portal throws you out at login or gives an error, check that you are typing the ЕГН without spaces and hyphens. For lasting problems call the NSSI contact centre on 0 700 14 802.
When it is better to go to an NSSI office
ЕПЕУ covers a large part of routine reports. There are situations, however, in which personal contact at an office is more suitable or simply mandatory.
Cases in which the office is more suitable
When in person is better than online
You have lost your PIK and do not have a QES
A new PIK requires you to attend in person with an ID card
Complex questions about retirement
Disputed periods of insurance record, documents from before 2000
Errors in the insurance record
When the report does not match the real situation
Submitting original documents
Certificates from abroad, divorce documents
For a report by ЕГН and PIK we have prepared a separate guide in NSSI report by ЕГН and PIK. To check sick leave see Checking sick leave payments.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use ЕПЕУ without a PIK or QES?
Not for personal reports. Without a verified identity you can see only the general service catalogue and the public parts of the portal. For pensions, sick leave or insurance record you need a PIK or QES.
How much does an NSSI PIK cost?
It is free. You get it at an NSSI office with an ID card. It is issued immediately and is valid until you deactivate it or it expires from non-use.
What if I live abroad?
If you have a QES from a Bulgarian provider, you log in to ЕПЕУ normally from abroad. Without a QES you must come to an NSSI office in Bulgaria or authorise a person, with a notarised power of attorney, to receive the PIK on your behalf.
How do I delete my account in the portal?
There is no separate online account. Your access is managed through the PIK or QES. If you want access to be ended, submit an application to deactivate the PIK at an NSSI office.
What is the difference between an NSSI PIK and an NRA PIK?
An NSSI PIK is for the services of the National Social Security Institute: pensions, sick leave, benefits. An NRA PIK is for the services of the tax administration: returns, contributions, liabilities. An NRA PIK also works in the NSSI’s ЕПЕУ, but the reverse is not true.
