NSSI (НОИ) online services in Bulgaria: login and look-ups
How to log in to the НОИ electronic services (ЕПЕУ) with a PIK or КЕП, which look-ups and applications you can make online, and what still needs an office.
You no longer need to queue at a National Social Security Institute (НОИ) office. Almost everything can be done online from home in a few minutes, with no fee and no special software.

❓How do I log in to the НОИ electronic services (ЕПЕУ)?
Important: if you are an employee, you do not need to register
This is confusion number one. Many people think they have to create a profile or a company registration with НОИ. For an ordinary employee this is not true.
Who needs to register
If you are on an employment contract, your employer submits the data for your insurance and files whatever is needed on your behalf, free of charge. You do not need a profile.
Registration and a user profile in the portal are needed only by self-insured persons, employers, hospitals and doctors. For personal look-ups (pension, sick leave, insurance record) a PIK or a КЕП is enough.
Which login you need: НОИ PIK, НАП PIK or КЕП
To log in you need one of three means of access. Here is what each one is and where to get it. PIK stands for personal identification code (персонален идентификационен код), and КЕП is a qualified electronic signature (квалифициран електронен подпис).

For a simple look-up choose the easiest free option, the PIK. You need a КЕП when you submit an application that requires a signature, for example some certificates for benefits. The steps for logging in with a PIK are also described in detail in our guide to the ЕПЕУ.

Logging in to the НОИ electronic services
This is the НОИ Unified Portal for Electronic Services. It works from a computer and from a phone.
Choose a means of authentication
A НОИ PIK, a НАП PIK or a КЕП.
Enter your personal number (ЕГН) and PIK, or identify yourself with a КЕП
With a PIK you enter your ЕГН (Bulgarian personal identification number) and the code. With a КЕП you choose your certificate.
Enter the Electronic Insurance File or the Service Catalogue
From here you see the look-ups about yourself and the list of applications.
Make a look-up or submit an application
Choose the service, review the result and, if needed, download it as a file.

What you can do online
The electronic services are divided into two main parts: the Electronic Insurance File (Електронно осигурително досие, ЕОД) for look-ups about yourself and the Service Catalogue for submitting applications.
The Electronic Insurance File is divided into three parts according to the capacity in which you log in: as an insured person, as an insurer (the employer who pays the contributions) or for pensions and benefits.

What you CANNOT do online and common mistakes
Most things are done online, but not everything. Here is when you will still have to go to a НОИ office or be careful.
Watch out for the following
- An appeal against a НОИ decision is submitted to the territorial office, not as an ordinary online look-up.
- An email request that contains personal data must be signed with a КЕП, otherwise it is not processed.
- A forgotten PIK is not restored by phone. A new one is issued at a НОИ office or electronically.
A НОИ PIK is not a НАП PIK
These are two different codes from two different institutions. With a НОИ PIK you log in for pensions and sick leave, and with a НАП PIK for taxes and contributions. The good news is that the НОИ portal accepts both for personal look-ups.

An appeal is first submitted to the head of the НОИ territorial office (Art. 117), and the decision on it can be appealed to the administrative court within 14 days.

Frequently asked questions
Are the НОИ electronic services free?
Yes. Look-ups and applications submitted through the ЕПЕУ are free. You pay only for a КЕП if you decide to get one, but for personal look-ups the free PIK is enough.
Where do I get a НОИ PIK?
A НОИ PIK is issued free of charge at the НОИ office where you live or electronically. Bring your identity card. The code is received in a sealed envelope.
Do I need to register to check my pension or sick leave?
No. For look-ups about yourself you log in directly with a PIK or a КЕП, without creating a profile. Registration is needed only by self-insured persons, employers and hospitals.
